Abstract

With increasing life expectancy, age-related health disorders are becoming more prevalent. Among them, those involving mental health, such as strokes (cerebral vascular accidents) and neurodegenerative diseases, are affecting a steadily growing part of the population. Consequently, strategies relating to lifestyle and especially nutrition are being investigated for their prevention. This paper deals with the role of diet in the prevention of stroke and of cognitive impairment, dementia and Alzheimer’s
disease.
