Abstract

Neology, a relatively new discipline that is arousing more interest year by year, usually requires interdisciplinarity to fully understand everything it has to offer. In this paper we present a morphological analysis of a selection of neologisms found in a set of works by Jacques Lacan, one of the most renowned and, at the same time, controversial psychiatrists and psychoanalysts of 20th century. Following an introduction and a brief presentation of Lacan, we move on to an analysis, consisting of a subsection for each selected neologism in which a study from a morphological standpoint is made in order to point out the degree of transgression. Finally, some considerations on the (no-)limits of rules in word formation are presented, and on how this could be interesting and profitable for the development of the discipline.
