This variation is affected by ideological motivation, which we can trace from the usage of denominative variation (Cabré, 1999; Freixa, 2002; Fernández-Silva, 2011). Here we explore these causes in connection with the concept of gender-based violence to observe the change of preferences from 1994 to 2019 and to understand the use of the respective terms in political manifestos. Author Biography Vicente Palomero López de Armentia, Universitat Pompeu Fabra Enginyer tècnic en Informàtica de Gestió per la Universitat Jaume I (UJI), amb el Màster de Lingüística Teòrica i Aplicada per la Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF). Actualment treballa de Quality Assurance Automation Engineer, i compagina el seu treball amb investigacions dins de l'àmbit de la lingüística, de caràcter personal, que comprenen les motivacions cognitives de la variació terminològica, la seua aplicació al discurs i, en general, el lèxic i la pragmàtica. Més enllà de la lingüística, és cofundador del blog Leemergence, dedicat a la promoció de la literatura, per al qual fa ressenyes d'autors contemporanis en català i castellà.
