The Dictionary of the Energy Transition: New Terms for a Changing Model

Authors

Abstract

The Dictionary of the Energy Transition, recently published by TERMCAT, is a structured, multilingual terminological resource that supports the profound transformation of the current energy model, which is essential to addressing climate change. Developed with the guidance of the Catalan Institute of Energy and the support of the Government of Andorra, the dictionary includes 551 terms categorized into thematic areas such as general concepts, units of measurement, foundations and principles, renewable energy sources, and strategies and technologies. Each entry provides terms in Catalan, definitions, and equivalents in Spanish, French, and English, along with complementary notes in most cases. This tool promotes linguistic standardization, facilitates conceptual understanding, and supports both newcomers to the field and professionals involved in the energy transition.
