Methodology for term extraction and identification in the domain of Biochemistry

Abstract

In this article, we describe the candidate term extraction process from German texts in the field of Biochemistry using a textual analysis tool. Moreover, we effectively resolve silence generated in the extraction by searching for "mother terms" (Ahmad et al., 2001) and specific domain morphemes (Heid, 1998). The methodology used is transposable to other related scientific fields.

Françoise Olmo Cazevieille eÌs doctora en Filologia Francesa i professora titular del Departament de LingüiÌstica Aplicada de la Universitat PoliteÌ€cnica de ValeÌ€ncia (UPV). Actual- ment eÌs membre responsable del grup d'investigacioÌ GALE (Grup d'AnaÌ€lisi de Llengües d'Especialitat), professora de terminologia en el maÌ€ster Llengües i Tecnologia i de llengua francesa en l'Es- cola Superior d'Enginyeria AgronoÌ€mica i del Medi Natural. Les seves liÌnies d'investigacioÌ soÌn la terminologia cien- tificoteÌ€cnica i la didaÌ€ctica de llengües amb fins especiÌfics, en particular, la metodologia i les tecnologies digitals.
