About the Journal

FOCUS AND SCOPE

Terminàlia is the scientific journal of the Catalan Society of Terminology (Societat Catalana de Terminologia, SCATERM), an affiliated society to the Institute of Catalan Studies (Institut d'Estudis Catalans). It is published biannually in both paper and electronic versions.

The aims of this journal are to become a channel of reference for scientific debate and a way of international dissemination of research, training, planning or technological developments in terminology and related fields, and to serve as an exchange organ and expression of the various professional profiles linked to terminology.

For some time now, Catalan activities in terminology (in respect of training, research, standardisation and resource production) have enjoyed wide recognition. And although Terminàlia is a Catalan terminological publication, its scope is international, and this is the reason why the journal is published in both Catalan and English. Originals in both Spanish and French are accepted for the ʻArticlesʼ section. In the remaining sections when there are contributions in languages other than the four mentioned, these are translated into Catalan for the journal's printed version; in the electronic version, the article is published both in its original language and its translation into Catalan.

The journal's main subject matter is terminology, in a broad sense, but it also extends to related domains: analysis of specialised discourse, specialised translation, history of scientific discourse, language teaching for specific purposes, linguistic engineering applied to terminological work, linguistic corpora of specialised contents, etc.).

100% of the journal's content consists of original contributions organised in permanent sections, aiming both to reflect the most recent developments of numerous activities in the field of terminology and other terminology-related domains, and to serve as an organ of exchange and means of expression for the various professional profiles associated with terminology. Another of the journal's main objectives is to publish quality articles that have undergone a double-blind review.
