Abstract

The aim of this article is to present the texts that Anna Murià published in the Mexican magazine La Jornada Semanal (1989-1995) during the latter years of her life. Taking journalistic activism as her starting point, she became an “ambassador” of Catalanism in a country that she recognized as her own, since she lived there in exile for thirty years. She wrote under pseudonyms in the magazine, a practice that began in her youth. Anna Murià wrote reviews of books which interested her and of the works of writers with whom she had a relationship or a political and ideological affinity. Many had gone into exile at some point in their lives and had published works of remembrance. Feminism, Catalanism and translation were common topics in her recessions, and she often dealt with several subjects simultaneously. The author stopped publishing in La Jornada Semanal to write opinion articles in El 9 Nou.
