Abstract

This survey of terms for diacritical marks starts out with a theoretical contextualization based on the recent work of Dimitrios Meletis. Next, we propose an interim definition of diacritical mark and we discuss the more usual diacritics, which adopt etymological or other forms created via semantic specialization. Lastly, as appropriate, we postulate some terminological solutions.
