Peer Review Process

The Editorial Board will consider each submitted piece of work for publication following an initial editorial appraisal to verify that it meets: a) the journal’s editorial criteria concerning subject matter and relevance; and b) the journal’s format-related requirements.

Once an article has been deemed suitable for publication, it will be sent to two or more specialized reviewers (Advisory Board members or external reviewers) to be evaluated confidentially and anonymously (double blind procedure). External reviews are not carried out on book reviews. In the event of a difference of opinion between the two reviewers, the piece of work will be sent to a third reviewer.

Authors may suggest up to four reviewers who they feel would be appropriate choices to evaluate their work, as well as identifying up to four reviewers who they would prefer not to be involved in the process. To that end, they must give the name, institution, telephone number and email address of each of the proposed reviewers, none of whom may be from the same institution as them. Such suggestions are to be made at the end of step one of the submission procedure, via the “Comments for the editor” field.

Article evaluation usually takes a maximum of six weeks.
