Archiving

Open Journal Systems supports the use of the LOCKSS (lots of copies keep stuff safe) system to ensure that a secure and permanent archive is maintained. LOCKSS is an open-source application developed at the Stanford University Library allowing librarians to maintain selected electronic journals by polling registered journal websites for newly published content and archiving it. Each file is continually validated by the CAU memory of other libraries, and if its content is corrupted or lost, the other CAU memories of the journal are used to restore it.
