Author Biography Joandomènec Ros , Institut d'Estudis Catalans Joandomènec Ros (1946) és catedràtic emèrit d’Ecologia a la Universitat de Barcelona. Ha fet recerca en ecologia marina i ha dirigit un grup de recerca consolidat i el seguiment de l’Àrea protegida de les Illes Medes. És membre de l’Institut d’Estudis Catalans (que presidí entre 2013 i 2021). Participa en òrgans consultors del Govern i del Parlament (Consell de Protecció de la Natura, Consell Assessor per al Desenvolupament Sostenible, Consell Assessor del Parlament per a Ciència i Tecnologia) i de la Universitat de Barcelona, i en comitès científics de centres de recerca i parcs naturals nacionals i internacionals. Ha dirigit el programa europeu de Ciències del Mar de la Universitat de la Mediterrània i ha coordinat la Càtedra UNESCO de Medi Ambient i Desenvolupament Durable de la UB. Ha estat rector de la Universitat Catalana d’Estiu i actualment presideix la Fundació Universitat Catalana d’Estiu. A més d’articles i llibres de recerca, ha publicat una quinzena de llibres de divulgació sobre medi ambient i ciència, el darrer dels quals és Cogitacions. Guaitant el món des de la meva talaia (2025). Ha traduït un bon nombre d’articles i llibres d’ecologia, biologia marina, biologia evolutiva i història de la ciència.
