Abstract

The work of geographer Manuel de Terán (1904-1984) provides a good example of the connection between geography and humanities that has largely characterized the intellectual perspective of modern Spanish geographical tradition. Influenced, at the same time, by updated proposals of the foreign geography of his time and the cultural and landscape horizon of Francisco Giner and the Institución Libre de Enseñanza (Free Institution of Education), he offered a way to understand the geography and a way of seeing the landscape that was characterized by sustained and fruitful relationship with humanities. It was in his vision of landscape an original convergence about geographical look and the views of the humanities. In this way, his vision of landscape was an original convergence about geographical look and the views of the humanities.
