Hekdesh in Barcelona: Jewish charity and welfare in the 13th-14th centuries Authors Clara Jáuregui Keywords: hospital, hekdesh, charity, welfare, 14th century Abstract Barcelona’s Jewish community had various welfare institutions between the 13th and 14th centuries. What little evidence remains of the city’s Jewish charitable institution and hospital can be found in notarial records and points to the active role the community had in supporting them. Studying these institutions shows the community’s acculturation and the way Jewish charity evolved. Keywords: hospital, hekdesh, charity, welfare, 14th century Downloads Download data is not yet available.
