Abstract

This article consists of an introduction followed by the transcriptions of 12 notarial documents related to the anti-Jewish riots of 1391. The transcribed texts refer, in particular, to the Jewish communities of the island of Majorca, the cities of Girona and Barcelona, and the vegueries (feudal administrative territorial divisions) of Lleida, Cervera, Montblanc and Tarragona. Almost all the people involved in the acts that the notarial documents describe held important positions in the court of King John I of Aragon and his wife Violant.
