The taking of possession of the tax farm (quèstia) of the Jewish aljamas of Falset and Móra (1443) Authors Carles Díaz Martí https://orcid.org/0009-0005-7124-6774 DOI: 10.2436/20.1006.01.103 Keywords: Jewish population, County of Prades, County of Cardona, Viscounty of Illa and Canet, Marriage agreements Abstract The right to collect the quèstia tax from the Jews of the aljamas (a term used to designate self-governing communities of Moors and Jews living under Spanish rule) of Falset and Móra was transferred from the Counts of Prades to the Viscounts of Illa and Canet following a marriage between members of the two noble houses. The transfer was implemented in 1443 through two notarial acts, one drawn up in Falset and the other in Móra, which listed the heads of the families of the two Jewish aljamas. This article analyses those documents in the light of the other information known about the two communities in the 15th century. Downloads Download data is not yet available.
