Galician Countries Monographs? On the Development of Classical Regional Geography in Galicia (1920s-1980s) Authors Alejandro Otero Varela DOI: 10.2436/20.3002.01.237 Keywords: Regional Geography, regional monography, county monograph, Geography of Galicia Abstract Regional monographs, a major vehicle of expression for Geography, developed in a broad sense in the first half of the 20th century. With certain conventions established by the French school of classical Regional Geography, regional monographs were used in various contexts; among them, the Catalan school of Geography and its production of county monographs stand out, especially in the 1920s-1930s. This article elucidates whether there was a similar generation of county monographs in Galicia. To do so, this paper analyses a corpus of more than 40 documents grouped into three successive phases, produced between the 1920s and the 1980s. The research ends up discussing the texts under examination in relation to the French regional monograph canon and the Catalan county monograph one. Downloads Download data is not yet available.
