Abstract

Economic Geography is a subject studied by those wanting to dedicate themselves to economic-business activities. In the first half of the twentieth century Economic Geography became a consolidated study subject in Spain. However, there were not university courses in the first half of the last century, except during academic year 1943-1944 in the Faculty of Political and Economic Sciences. The article analyzes the consideration that Economic Geography had in Spain during the first half of the 20th century according to the contributions of Ricardo Beltrán y Rózpide and of the “Spanish School of Geography”, the subjects of the curricula of the centers where it was taught, and how it was treated in the Faculty of Political and Economic Sciences in 1944 by Professor José Miguel Ruiz Morales and concludes with an interpretation the causes that contributed to its disappearance in the curriculum of that Faculty.
