The scarce recognition of the heritage of rural municipalities

Abstract

Rural heritage suffer from a lack of visibility and undervaluation, in inventories dissemination and publicity, and also in their conservation and restoration particularly in those examples that better respond to the historical profile of agrarian rurality. Lower demographic density and the consubstantial dispersion to the rural areas explains this lack of interest. Despite all these rural areas do have a rich heritage, which deserves to be known and recognized. And that goes through the sum of the efforts of inventory, study and dissemination, and a selection of initiatives to create new contents, as well as heritage recovery and patrimonial promotion.
