Abstract

There aremore than 400 social companies in Catalonia,many
of which belong to the food and agricultural industry; however, social
companies still remain quite unknown. The present article aims at
introducing readers to social companies and social entrepreneurship. We will first define the concept andmain characteristics of a social company and second,we will present an overview of the different social companies that exist nowadays in the food and agricultural industry and what their social impact is.
