The marriage settlements as a demographic and socioeconomic source in the middle Ages Authors Carles Díaz Martí Keywords: Medieval demography, marriage settlements, wedding, marriage, migration, dowry Abstract This paper focuses on the marriage settlements, a historical source slightly used in medieval period, and it proposes a methodology used to obtain social and economic data from the spouses and their future statistical analysis. This methodology is applied to approximately 450 marriage settlements located in the documentation of the notary Bernat Montserrat (1431-1465).
