Abstract Oral memory remains an underutilised resource in the field of geography. It is a highly valuable tool for territorial planning and management, offering a more human perspective on the landscape and contributing to a more holistic vision. The Municipal Historical Archive of Olesa de Montserrat uses oral memory as a key element in the geographical reconstruction of the impact and devastation caused by the floods of September 1971 in the town of Olesa de Montserrat. The results of this qualitative study, conducted through interviews with witnesses and survivors, led to the creation of an exhibition and a documentary film about the floods, with the aim of commemorating the 50th anniversary of the disaster and encouraging reflection on extreme meteorological phenomena brought by climate change.
