TV3’s multiplatform journalism on Facebook over 9-N – intermedia or transmedia practices? Authors Geane Alzamora Universitat Catòlica de São Paulo, Brasil. Keywords: TV journalism, Facebook, 9-N, intermedia, transmedia, multimedia. Abstract This study seeks to understand the extent to which the multiplatform journalism practiced by TV3 in association with its news channel 3/24 around the issue of the sovereignty of Catalonia in November 2014 should be characterised as having a transmedia dynamic or as being a typical case of an intermedia dynamic. The methodological procedures for doing so are based on a systematic observation of the communicative actions of TV3 and 3/24 on Facebook surrounding 9-N, the social designation given to the referendum held in Catalonia on 9 November 2014. We also monitored comments and links to these publications, all relating to the special “9-N, la votació” news multiplatform produced by TV3 and 3/24. We concluded that the intermedia dynamic was predominant in the scenario investigated, although the transmedia dynamic was also observed, for instance, in publications under the hashtags #9NTV3 and #9N.Keywords: TV journalism; Facebook; 9-N; intermedia; transmedia; multimedia.
