ChatGPT feedback, an example of integrating generative artificial intelligence in English language teaching at the University of Andorra: An experimental study Authors Carolina Poussier Milhau Universitat d’Andorra https://orcid.org/0009-0002-9456-8512 DOI: 10.2436/20.3007.01.218 Keywords: generative artificial intelligence, self-regulated learning, language learning, immediate feedback, personalized feedback Abstract Generative artificial intelligence has revolutionized the educational world, sparking various reactions and opinions regarding its use. However, it is evident that this technology is here to stay, and as educators, it is essential that we learn how to integrate it into our daily practice, since it forms part of our students’ academic and professional environment. The English language, recognized as the international language that opens doors to the globalized world, is one of the fundamental pillars in academic and professional fields. In the multilingual context of the University of Andorra, English is prominent, but managing it alongside Catalan and French poses a challenge for students. As an innovative university, we have explored the possibilities of generative AI to enhance English learning. An educational experiment was conducted using ChatGPT, leveraging its immediate personalized feedback to analyze the progress of first-year students with an A2 level in English. The use of generative AI in English teaching presents an opportunity to enhance education with immediate personalized feedback. However, it is crucial to balance the use of technology with teacher supervision to maximize benefits and create a solid pedagogical model in a digital context.
