Abstract

Therapeutic educational workshops focus educational action on students, addressing the heterogeneity of the whole range of students. The task to be carried out in these workshops is not considered an end in itself but rather a means to achieve a mastery of social competence and to attain high levels of subjective well-being.

This article describes how the methodology of therapeutic educational workshops is applied in La Ginesta Special Education Center (CEE La Ginesta), where it is based on three different workshops, for sewing, cooking and carpentry. Despite the multiple formats of the therapeutic educational workshops at CEE La Ginesta, they all have the same basic structure: a) they place the student at the centre of the educational action; b) they promote and develop the mastery of the different skills that make up social competence; and c) they provide tools for the subjective well-being of each of the participants with the intention of promoting the achievement of high levels of individual and collective well-being. In addition, each of the workshops carries out the specific task assigned to it.
