Abstract

In this study the geo-history of aquifer of the mid waters course of the Tordera River (Prelitoral Catalan Depression) is analyzed, considering the natural dynamics and the strategies of water resource exploitation throughout history. Four different phases can be distinguished within this interrelation. Characteristics of the aquifer and the groundwater dynamics play a key role in the water profit exploitation. At each different phase, a relationship between landscape and the groundwater dynamics, which provide specific ecological potentialities, are established.
