Do we know whether syntactic corpus planning works?

Abstract

This paper deals with state-of-the-art research on the implantation of Catalan syntactic norms coming from corpus planning. In addition, a research project on the subject is suggested. Regarding the first point, and considering the fact that there are barely any research studies focused on this topic, data and indirect evidence has been collected in order to get a general idea about our knowledge of the real implantation of syntactic norms. Thus, a list of the items and features that seem to be difficult to learn and to implant has been drawn. These are the features and items upon which a systematic and detailed research project could be built. As regards the second point, three different research projects that could work are suggested in order to obtain evidence about those features and items and, therefore, to achieve an accurate knowledge of the results of syntactic corpus planning.
