Programmes to promote the leisure use of Basque among children Authors Odei Sagardia Iraundegi Urtxintxa Eskola Izaro Susperregi Olaizola Urtxintxa Eskola Keywords: Basque, language, leisure, education, young people, children. Abstract Urtxintxa Eskola develops various programmes to promote the organisation of children’s and young people’s leisure time while incorporating the Basque language to normalise its use. Kuadrillategi provides a relaxed meeting place that seeks to influence linguistic habits in order to do away with the negative perception of Basque among certain groups. Lending continuity to Kuadrillategi, Bidaide is a programme that serves the community as a guide for newcomers. Lagunarteko Hizkerarekin Jolasean is a programme held during school-time, and seeks to interact with students to find Basque words used in jokes, personal issues, dating and other matters of interest to young people. Hezhiz is also held at school and deals directly with the subject of language.Key words: Basque language, leisure, education, young people, children. Downloads Download data is not yet available.
