Linguistic rights in the Catalan-speaking area

Abstract

This article examines the origin, recent evolution and theoretical- methodological aspects of linguistic laws that have been developed in relation to the Catalan language. The analysis includes factors that induced and subsequently shaped the legal-doctrinal treatment of linguistic affairs, highlighting the commonalities and specificities present in the various territories that make up the Catalan area. Subsequently, connections between legal studies and other linguistic
disciplines are outlined. Finally, reference ismade to themain future challenges faced by linguistic law as a discipline or field of legal research.
