Language use within the family and intergenerational language transmission in 2018

Abstract

This article, which is based on the results of the 2018 survey of the population’s language use (EULP) in Catalonia, deals first with family language use, going on to intergenerational language transmission, which is studied in different ways, and lastly to the number of children born according to languages. It takes into account, for the first time, the results of the item on children’s usual language, which was present in several previous versions of EULP surveys but had not been put to use until now.
