Abstract This paper presents the data from a questionnaire administered to the community of deaf people in the Balearic Islands on their knowledge of languages, their literacy skills and the level of educational training which they have reached in their life. Author Biography Lluís Barceló-Coblijn, Universitat de les Illes Balears Llicenciat en Filologia Catalana (2006, Universitat de les Illes Balears; UIB) i després també en Lingüística General (2007, Universitat de Barcelona; UB). Màster en Ciència Cognitiva i Llenguatge (2008, UB) i Màster en Cognició i Evolució Humana (2010, UIB). La seva Tesi Doctoral (2012) és sobre l’evolució del llenguatge en les espècies H. sapiens i and H. neanderthalensis, i sobre l’evolució del llenguatge durant l’ontogènia (adquisició del llenguatge) analitzada per mitjà de xarxes complexes.En 2008 va treballar breument a l'ICREA-Complex Systems Lab, on va entrar en contacte amb les xarxes, els sistemes complexos i el llenguatge.
