Abstract

When the path becomes thought: towards an itinerant pedagogy. The aim of this article is to perceive and reclaim the act of walking as a wholly human act that constitutes an opportunity to think or learn in a less hurried way. This topic is dealt with from a philosophical and pedagogical viewpoint. Through authors such as Jean-Jacques Rousseau (1712-1778), Charles Baudelaire (1821-1867) and Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900), we will be able to grasp three ways of walking or moving about, which give rise to three understandings of homo viator, such as the romantic stroll, the flâneur and the wandering pilgrimage. In this article, therefore, strolling will bear little resemblance to the majority usage currently made of it, where there is greater concern for arriving at a pre-planned destination or meeting an objective alien to the activity itself. Consequently, putting one foot in front of the other on the ground will become a veritable intellectual adventure with a self-educating capacity.
