Promoting solidarity and the Sustainable Development Goals at the University of Andorra (UdA): The role of the UdA Solidarity Commission

Abstract

The University of Andorra (UdA) is committed to integrating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into its educational model, fostering globally aware citizens. In 2018, the University adapted its curriculum to include the SDGs as a transversal competence, particularly highlighting areas such as sustainability and inclusion. The UdA Solidarity Commission plays a pivotal role in this mission by organizing awareness-raising and volunteering initiatives that promote values such as solidarity and social justice. Key projects led by the Commission include solidarity days, the UNESCO Chair, and the Gender Equality Plan, all of them aligned with the SDGs. These actions extend well beyond the university community, enhancing international cooperation and the UdA’s social impact. Thus, from a global perspective, and as an institution responsible for shaping future generations, the University positions itself as an agent of change, contributing to the building of a more equitable and sustainable society.
