Abstract This article explores how important it is for students to finish their regulated studies, becoming competent and feeling motivated to improve society, with their local setting as their starting point. That is why it highlights different research studies which,applied transversely and worked on cooperatively, are proposed to students to achieve the basic curricular knowledge, focusing on elements of their immediate surroundings. Meaningful learning and the link between their school and their social context, with the promotion of teamwork, are the elements that will encourage students to strive for a better society once they have completed their schooling.KeywordsSecondary education; cooperation; final research project; local setting.
