Abstract

The article makes clear the current nature of the work of Ramon d’Abadal in legal history. From his doctoral thesis about the Partidas of Alfons X the Wise in Catalonia; the studies about the Visigoth laws and institutions; about the Carolingian Capitularies and documents prior to 1000 CE; the work and research dedicated to the Usatges de Barcelona and to their compilation, together with the constitutions of Catalonia; his theory of the Principality in the Usatges de Barcelona and about the kingdom of King Peter IV the Ceremonious, are some outstanding contributions by Ramon d’Abadal to the legal history of Catalonia and its legal and political philosophy which, even today, are of obligatory reference.
