Abstract

This paper presents the distribution of European Fan Palm (Chamaerops humilis) in its northern limit of spontaneous and continuous settlement on Iberian Peninsula. As representation system a 1 km UTM grid is used. This method indicates the presence or absence of the plant and, if it precedes, the abundance in three categories: located, frequent and abundant. The study facilitates to affine in a very precise way the chorology of this taxon in its distribution area limit, helping establishing a chorological and ecological typology. Thanks to field work new locations for the palm have been detected, revealing also unusual vegetal formations. During this research special attention has been provided both to cartographic representation and geographic point of view.

Key words: European Fan Palm, Muntanyes d’Ordal, chorology.
