Abstract

Causes of fires in Collserola: using GIS. The aim of this study is to analyze the main causes of fires in Collserola Park (metropolitana area of Barcelona) and its relationship with the electricity grid, road network and the growth of urban land from 1990 to 2007. After several operations using GIS tools has concluded that most fires are caused by the park?s proximity to roads, where there is an increased movement of people. The grid shows a decrease in the number of fires in recent years of the study. Neither the law nor have improved surveillance could appease them. To reduce the number of fires in the Park presents a reconsideration of the legislation to introduce possible improvements, use of new systems and proposals for fire prevention and education for fire prevention.
