Natura i història en la creació dels "paisatges de l'aigua" a la plana de l'Alt Empordà

Abstract

The goal of this article is to make an approach to the historical process of creation of the named water landscapes in the Alt Empordà plain. In first place, the main elements that configure the water landscapes in the plain (rivers, streams, marshes, ponds, irrigation ditches and channels for irrigated land, etc) are presented. Next, the historical process of creation of the water landscapes in the Alt Empordà plain is analysed through a discourse that has been simplified into two great stages: a long one characterized for the fight sustained by the Alt Empordà society against water and, a second stage, much more recent, where the efforts of this society are concentrated in the extraction and exploitation of this water. Finally, this process is analyzed in detail through the specific case of the landscape configured by the enclosures.
