Procesos de transformación urbana en la Barcelona postolímpica desde la prespectiva de la Nueva Geografía Cultural Authors Jordi Selfa Clemente Abstract This paper presents a double objective: on one side the analysis of the Anglo-Saxon cultural geography contributions for the understanding of urban change; and second, using Barcelona as example, presents the different uses of the term culture in all its wide different meanings adopted by urban policies and the changes that these policies create. Culture is presented as a powerful tool that favored policies of urban change during the period of transition to new forms of urban economic regulations linked to a neo-liberal model for the city. In the case of Barcelonas policies, this paper shows how culture has been incorporated within the discourse of several urban policies, and also how cultural policy has been oriented towards urban transformation.
