Abstract

Quality television is a controversial label that has been interpreted by all according to their own interests and has been affected by political, economic, and social circumstances. The present article responds to the question of what we talk about when we talk about quality television. It also addresses how the concept of quality television has been affected by recent changes in the medium and analyzes the evolution of the concept of public service, which invokes a standard of quality television.
