Abstract

This article reviews Llúcia Oliva and Xavier Sitjàs book Las noticias en radio y televisión: Periodismo audiovisual en el siglo XXI [Radio and television news: Audiovisual journalism in the twenty-first century]. Globalization is having a profound effect on the task of journalists worldwide. In the USA and the EU, we are faced with job insecurity; in other parts of the world, dedicated journalists have been killed. The situation merits reflexion on how this new context is affecting the dynamics of democracy. Oliva and Sitjàs book is a useful tool for communication students, professionals, and the lay reader interested this issue.
