Abstract

Radio in Valencia at present has several unique characteristics that could be summed up in two: first, there is no unifying model for the creation of a Valencian radio identity and, second, is the use of language. These two factors constitute the clearest difference between Valencian radio and Catalan radio in general, and once again they have become the basic points when describing the traits of the present Valencian communication scenario. Furthermore, academic research has been impeded by factors such as lack of interest on the part of the public media and lack of policies for conserving the Valencian radio patrimony. Nevertheless, in recent years this scenario has begun to change thanks to an increase in the number of studies on mass media in the Valencian public universities.
