Abstract

An overview of research on journalistic communication in the Valencia Country during the past ten years reveals a certain irregularity. Most predominant is theoretical research, especially on journalistic production process. However, there are few empirical contributions, most of which have been channeled through articles in scientific publications. The literature in our field, however, is scant on empirical research, which is associated with conventional themes, such as history and literature. The overview of journalistic communication also shows a lack of research tradition, owing to the relatively recent establishment of communication sciences in public universities. Such a gap is apparent in the absence (with some exceptions) of consolidated research teams working on lines of continued investigation.
