Chips today: A tale of two shortages
Keywords:
chips, education, microelectronics, semiconductor crisis, technological sovereignty.Abstract
The worldwide scarcity of chips has evidenced their importance in the everyday activity of society as a whole. Without chips or integrated circuits, our productive, economic and leisure activities come to a halt. Society must be educated about this issue in order to become aware of its importance and of the need to train new professionals with the knowledge required to devote themselves to the semiconductor industry that Catalonia and Europe at large will need in the future if they are to achieve technological sovereignty and not depend on the changes and decisions of the globalized market. The European Chips Act and Spain’s Strategic Project for Economic Recovery and Transformation in the field of microelectronics and semiconductors (PERTE Chip) seek to remedy this situation.Downloads
