Abstract

This article is a conceptual proposal on the narrative construction of identity in adolescence. In this line it describes the most relevant characteristics of evolutional change during this period and highlights the contemporary concepts of identity. It comments the theory on the construction of the identity of Erik Erikson and the states of the identity of James Marcia, and describes the differences between genders. It develops the proposal of the construction of the identity through narrative tools and more specifically the writing of an intimate diary, understood as a self-narrative tool, which could facilitate the construction of identity since they are attempts at integrating the individual and at showing a stable personal representation.
