Abstract The characteristic psychological aspects of creativity are also specific to the creative processes in mathematics. Despite this, however, the creative spark in mathematics is often thought to bear no relation to the logical processes that should govern it. In this paper the main aspects of mathematical creativity are analysed and several referents for learning to be mathematically creative are considered.Keywords: Creativity, mathematics, situated practice, philosophical dialogue.
