The new European digital identity framework and its impact for the Catalan public administrations

Abstract

This paper presents the new European digital identity framework approved by Regulation (EU) 2024/1183, which amends Regulation (EU) 910/2014, on electronic identification and trust services for electronic transactions in the internal market (eIDAS Regulation), formed by the European digital identity portfolio and the new trust services related to electronic attribute declarations. The main content of the amended eIDAS Regulation and its potential impact on Catalan public administrations is presented.
