Abstract

This article aims to study the presence of the Catalan language as the content of the press (written in this language) published in exile. After extracting three magazines printed in France during the 1940s and 1960s, these journalistic pieces have been classified and analysed. The results show that these publications represented a platform for expressing aspects banned in the Spanish press due to the restrictions imposed by Franco’s regime. The figure and works of Pompeu Fabra, the teaching of Catalan and its presence in the media are all examined.
