Miguel de Unamuno: life in tragedy Authors Natàlia Rodríguez Inda Universitat de Barcelona Keywords: Unamuno, thought, life, tragedy. Abstract Miguel de Unamuno thinks, feels and lives from his tragic vision of life. In Del sentimiento trágico de la vida, he presents the conflicting relationship between reason and faith, that is, between thought and life, and it is from this tension that we can extract the Unamuno’s point of view about being and not-being that, precisely, marks the start and end point of tragedy. His criticism of the abstract reason that dominates Western thought, along with the desire of inmortality, form the area from which Unamuno begins his philosophical path. I will try to offer a clear image of such an internal conflicte of the author in order to reach the dark bottom, in the abyss that separates thought and life, and the crosses all his work. Keywords: Unamuno, thought, life, tragedy.
