Abstract

Adopting a positive viewpoint on the future of mathematical education, this article reflects on the state of current proposals focused on competency-based learning and meaningful learning situations in the classroom. The training of mathematics teachers is key to improving the educational system. Although progress has been made, there is room for improvement in the current model. For instance, more classroom practice in the master’s degree in Teacher Training, and continuing professional development are recommended. It is necessary to design an agenda around which we can work together, and the Catalan Congress on Mathematical Education (C2EM) is the ideal place to do so.
