Puig Adam i la formació continuada del professorat de matemàtiques Authors Josefa Dólera-Almaida Dolores Carrillo-Gallego Encarna Sánchez-Jiménez Abstract After enacting the Secondary Education Law in 1953, various initiatives aimed at providing continuing professional development for secondary education teachers were implemented in Spain. In 1955, Pere Puig Adam, professor at the Institute ofMathematics, was appointed by the Centro de Orientación Didáctica (COD) to lead research on the reform and improvement of mathematics teaching in upper secondary education. Puig Adam started to actively promote numerous training activities for those students. This study mainly aims to identify the specific activities Puig Adam developed in the field of continuing professional development for secondary education teachers during the 1950s in Spain. Several professional publications were consulted to conduct this research. The journal Enseñanza Media was particularly important, as it published a large number of articles on teacher training initiatives aimed at mathematics teachers. The results show that the methodological ideas put forward in the publications were in linewith Puig Adam’s teaching model and hismost characteristic teaching proposals, amongst which the heuristic method stood out.
